Antoinette Candela is a little shy with a larger than life personality. Suffering from Peter Pan syndrome, she refuses to grow up. She finds inspiration for her writings from everyday life, through her fun and quirky interactions with friends and family and the drama that never ceases to disappoint.

One thing is for certain, Antoinette lives by her own rules. As a Bostonian she loves the Yankees and is proud to wear her “I Love Derek Jeter “T-shirt. You can catch Antoinette on the beach soaking in the rays, but when the rumble of the thunderstorm rolls in, she’s curled up with a book or tapping away on her keyboard.

Mother, Writer, Reader, Lover of Music and all things learning, Antoinette is the charismatic author of Breaking Elle.

Hi Antoinette, thank you for agreeing to this interview.

1. What inspired you to write your first book?

My love of reading and writing got me here and it helps to have my head in the clouds, fantasizing, with a ton of ideas and characters in my head. So, the natural next step was to put my thoughts down on paper.

I love a good love story and since life sometimes love doesn’t work out that way. I wanted my ideas and fantasies to come alive in the pages of a book and make the ending my own. Some of it what you see in my first two books are as inspired by own personal experiences and some that I wish I had.

2. What books have most influenced your life most?

I have read many different books in my life and I cannot say any really influenced me. I think just writing in general and being in awe of those who were able to write a book. WAIT. A. MINUTE. I take that back, now that my mind is racing as I type, I have to say reading Colleen Hoover's books inspired me. Her writing is clean and flawless. The symbolism and just the emotions she evokes in her books is amazing.

But I just don't find inspiration in books alone. I find that real life interaction and experiences with other people influenced me. I love where I am because of whom I've met and where I've been and I try to bring a little piece of my life and experiences in my stories.

3. Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?

Pepper Winter's name instantly comes to mind. I've seen her books and have bought a couple and have not read them read yet since I was in the process of writing mine. I heard that her writing is amazing. I also heard great things about Tijan's and cannot wait to take a break to read!! Something about these two writers intrigues me and I have not read one word of their writing.

4. What are your current projects?

Projects! LOL. I have five currently running in my head.

and I just started my third book a standalone novel for Tyler’s character that I have been dying to write for awhile. I want to take my time with this one and not go through the same crazy deadlines I had for Breaking Elle or Wanting Reed. There is no definite release date right but it is sometime in 2014.

5. Where do you get your ideas?

I've always been a dreamer. I wrote my first romance about the crush I had on George Michael that was of course before I found out he preferred men! My brother got his hands on the notebook and that was all she wrote. I think that was my first kissing scene!!

Where do I get my ideas you ask?

I'm a little nosy, a good listener and a people watcher. I love to observe people in their daily interactions at the coffee shop, at work, standing at the train stations, the gym! Anywhere. I get a lot of my visions and scenes from being out and about.

I live my life through my books. I write from my own personal experience, like something I wish I could have done, a place that I wish I visited. I live the life I've always wanted through my books and meet the people I did not have the courage to meet because in real life I'm pretty shy!

6. Do you work with an outline, or just write?

Outlines? what is that? No never. I just write what comes to me. I could be listening to the radio and a certain song comes on that could trigger the way a scene develops or words that are said. The whole writing and thought process is really amazing!

7. Is anything in your books based on real life experiences or purely all imagination?

I mix it up a little bit. I think I answered that question up above. I have used co-workers as characters or based some characters on family members and past boyfriends.

8. Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

I love Tarryn Fisher and CJ Roberts. Love their writing style and how they weave a story! The characters are so vivid and relatable and all of the male leads are so damn swoony!

9. Which famous person, living or dead would you like to meet and why?

Okay. This is a question that I hate to answer since only a few months ago this gorgeous man was alive, but Paul Walker. Was my ideal real life boyfriend. I tend to lean towards blonde blue eyed men. And he was it for me the one person I would have loved to have met him! HE was not only beautiful, a great actor but a great human being.

10. How do you relax?

I don’t! No, seriously it may sound crazy but working out does it for me. I hit the gym four times a week!!! You would be surprised how many scenes have come to me as I am running on the treadmill!!

11. Any amusing story about marketing books that happened to you?

Hmm.. No.. I have only been in the crazy indie world a year. I am a tiny fish in a big pond right now but I love being part of this Indie World. I have made some really great friends some of them authors and some of them avid readers! They have helped me through this journey and I cannot thank them enough!

12. What is the hardest thing about writing?

Everything!!!!! Edits are the worst, deadline, rewrites, writers block! Need I go on? It is a pretty crazy list!!

13. What is the easiest thing about writing?

Having a laptop and an iPad! I do not know how anyone could have written with pen and paper. And of course..the fact that I can take a break when I want to. I am my own boss and I set the hours and the deadlines!

14. Do you have any advice for other writers?

Write your story! Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there!! If you get one reader to love your book then you have done what you have set out to do. That's what I told myself every day and when I hit publish on my first book and got my first great review I reached my goal! Someone is going to want to read your story and meet your characters! We all have a story to share.

15. Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

I truly do appreciate and I am grateful for all the reader’s who have bought, read, and told their friends about my books and who are anxiously waiting for more. More you say? Yes there is more! And I cannot wait to start! I hope my readers stick around for my third book that comes out later this year.

I’d like for readers to go out to Amazon, Barnes and Noble to one click my books! And don’t forget to leave a review!! My reader’s opinions really matter to me and inspire me and challenge me to write better stories!

Thank you very much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to take part in this interview
