growled Brian softly. “Not with what you do or say, and especially not with how
you react.”
“That’s not my fault. You can just point that finger at yourself, buddy,” Tessa
grumbled back before snapping her mouth shut.
Alright, so maybe he was right
about the filter thing.
“What?”
Man, if looks could strip. She’d
never felt this naked before, this out of control. Inwardly, she sighed. The
guy just brought out the uncivilized in her.
Oh well. She came this far—may as
well see where this ride ends. “You heard me.” Her chin came up defiantly. “I
can’t think when you talk in that ridiculously sexy voice. Or when your biceps
suddenly double in size in the middle of even the simplest of tasks, like
lifting a coffee mug. And don’t get me started on your eyes. My god, I almost
walked into a wall the last time you smiled and your eyes went from that soft
ocean blue to deep turquoise. I mean who does that?!”
It was like she just couldn’t
stop talking.
When he came to a standstill and
stared at her like she’d lost her mind, she huffed, “It’s simply not reasonable

choice but to meet his eyes again and lose myself in that piercing blue stare.
He sees right through me.
I can’t fight it with a quip or a
barbed comment. I can’t break away. His eyes demand everything from me, and I
have no choice but to surrender. I feel naked, stripped bare, like all my fears
and dreams and insecurities are right there for him to see. The worst of me, my
darkest secrets.
Still, he doesn’t look away.

On

against him through labored breathing.

Leaning against
the cool wood of the hotel room door, she met his stare trying hard not to
smile like an idiot.
“This was fun.”
Drew’s eyes
flashed. “If you ask nicely, I’ll let you take me to bed.”
She shook her
head at his antics. “What if I’m not feeling especially nice?”
Drew brushed his
hand over her hip. “You’re right. You do feel naughty,” he agreed. Holding her
stare, he bent closer, giving her time to protest his advance. The door opened
at Aubree’s back. If she hadn’t hit the solid wall of Max’s chest, she might
have ended up sprawled across the floor. Tilting back her head, she took note

His eyes danced with humor as he mouthed, “Denied,” and Aubree slapped her hand

night, Drew.” Drew ignored Max’s snarling words.
“May I see you

“I’d like that,”
she answered without hesitation. Max growled. At the sound, Drew flashed him a

as he moved out of the doorway, Max slammed it closed, focusing his ire on her.
She’d never seen him truly angry before now. She laughed nervously.
“Are you drunk?”
“No,” she
answered, incredulous. “I’ve had two glasses of champagne all night.”

Aubree shrugged.
“I’m happy. I had a good time.”
Max prowled
toward her. The hard set of his jaw caused a flutter of desire to run through
her. “Did you forget who you came here with?”
Unable to think
of a single retort, she shrugged again. “I’m young and single. Why shouldn’t I

Max’s eyes
flashed dangerously. His tone had a bite to it when he spoke. “You are not

About the Author
Kathryn is a simple country girl who likes to spend time with her hubba, hunka hubby, her three kids and her friends. She loves to cook and really loves to eat! During the spring and summer, you will more than likely find her outside puttering around in her garden. When the veggies start coming in, she will probably be sweating over a hot canner in the kitchen, canning all the goodies she is blessed with. Kathryn likes to hike and go camping, and gets to do this pretty often! On cold winter nights, you will probably find her wrapped in a warm blanket, lost in a good book, while sitting in her rocking chair on the front porch!

Since A LOT of people have been asking here is the scoop on how this book fits in with my Rook & Ronin series: Ford first appears in Rook and Ronin #2, Manic. He has a bigger role in Panic, R&R #3, and then he has a novella, called SLACK. This TAUT book is only FORD. “Ford?” she says in an overly sweet voice.
“Yes, Ashleigh?” I look over at her with a dimpled grin.
“I’m gonna get you back for all this control, you do realize that, right?”
I reach over and grab her thigh. She jumps a little and lets out a gasp. “I never lose, Ash. Never. So if you think you can get me back by playing nasty with me tonight, then by all means, show me what a loser I am.” And then I slip my hand down her thigh and pinch her skin until she yelps. Before her hand can even move to swat mine off, I’m caressing her pussy through her jeans. “Do not come or I will tease you and withhold orgasms later.”
She holds her breath and nods.
