Book Review - Fighting for Flight (Fighting, #1) by Jamie Salsbury
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
One word I have for this book is Amazingballs . Definitely worth the read .
This book pulled me right in from the first page , Why did I wait so long to read this book? Jamie Salsbury did an awesome Job with her debut novel and if the rest of the books she writes are half as good as this one I will be a fan for life of her reading .
“When God hands you a gift, you don’t push it away and tell him ‘later'.”
book Blurb:
What happens when in order to win, you’re forced to lose?
The only daughter of an infamous Las Vegas pimp, Raven Morretti grew up an outsider. Liberated from the neglectful home of her prostitute mother, she finds solace as a mechanic. With few friends, she’s content with the simple life. Flying under the radar is all she knows, and more than she expects.
Until she catches the eye of local celebrity, UFL playboy Jonah Slade.
Weeks away from his title fight, Jonah is determined to stay focused on everything he’s trained so hard to achieve. Undefeated in the octagon, he’s at the height of his career. But resisting Raven’s effortless allure and uncomplicated nature is a fight he can’t win.
Jonah trades in his bad-boy reputation and puts his heart on the line. But when her father contacts her, setting in motion the ugly truth of her destiny, Jonah must choose. In a high-stakes gamble where love and freedom hang in the balance, a war is waged where the price of losing is a fate worse than death.
Will the hotheaded Jonah be able to restrain his inner fighter to save the woman he loves?
Or will Raven be forced into a life she’s been desperate to avoid?
This book was intense!!
“You're unlike anyone I've ever known. You're kind, smart, funny, gracious...hell, you even laugh at Blake's jokes. I want you. And that includes everything that makes you who you are.”
Raven was the heroin in this book, she was handed a shit life and she grew and became a very strong woman. With a mother who would not could not even look at her and a father who never showed her any type of love at all . She made the best for herself in her life and she lived for making her dreams come true.
“You, Raven Morretti, are mine. Doesn’t matter if you’re a virgin or an alien. What you’ve told me changes nothing. Not. One. Thing.”
The day she Met Jonah Forever changed her life . Johan took one look at her and knew he had to have her in his life . He fought every inch of the way to make her his all the way to the end . to give her the future she so deserved .
“The best thing that ever happened to me shows up in coveralls and a pair of Chucks when I least expect it. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her.”
They Saved each other in this story and it was a hell of a ride , but it was so full of compassion , love, trust, hope for a future . It was a fight of life.
“I almost lost you."
"No, never. I would've fought. However long it took. I'd never give up until I was free. You're my life, Jonah. My family, my love, my best friend. Nothing, not even destiny, could keep me from you."
He leans forward and brushes his lips against mine.
"Okay.”
Blake was hilarious,
I can not wait for Blake's Story Fighting To Forgive
