Exclusive Interview with Consequences author Aleatha Romig & Free Giveaway!
I am happy to announce today an Interview with Consequences Author Aleatha Romig , as well as a Giveaway we will be doing for a signed paperback copy of Both Consequences and Truth and a bonus E-book copy of Both to two lucky winners !!!
Please tell us a bit about yourself. Who is your favorite Hero? Your likes and dislikes ?
First, Chris, let me thank you for having me on your blog! I’m excited to introduce myself to your followers; hello, I am Aleatha Romig, author of the Consequences Series: Consequences, Truth and Convicted. I am also a wife, married for 26 years to my high school sweetheart, mother of three and dental hygienist.
My favorite hero is my husband! I know he isn’t fictional, but I think he’s amazing. He recently spent four years working third shift and going to college. He just graduated with his degree in Elementary Education. He has always been there for me and our children. To me, he’s a super hero! I like honesty and “real” in my life. I dislike pettiness and don’t have time to entertain it. I like twists, turns, tension and emotional turmoil in my fictional life... especially when I’m the author, perhaps it is because under those circumstances, I’m in control – of it all!
What made you decide to write a book like Consequences?
I started writing – unsure of where I was going. I let the story write itself and Consequences was the result! I understand it is dark and controversial. I didn’t plan to write something like that, but I enjoyed every word!
What would you say is your favorite scene from both Consequences and Truth ?
That is hard; I like so many scenes from each. Today, I will say, in Consequences I like the scene where Tony takes Claire to the clearing to apologize for her “accident”. I especially like what follows. It shows Claire’s apprehension yet utter need to be loved as well as Tony’s desire, which he’d fought for too long. In Truth, I love the scene where Tony visits Claire in San Diego. I love her spunky smart comments and his effort to control his anger. The scene shows how the paradigm changed from Consequences to Truth.
Is it true that your Tony is Joe Magellano ? Why Joe as your Tony? He is my Favorite Man.
I actually made Tony completely up, his looks and personality. Then, after the first draft of Consequences was written, I was watching True Blood. While watching one character asked Alcide how tall he was... Alcide answers 6’5” – 6’6”? It hit me! He was who I’d been describing! Without knowing it, Joe Magellano was always my Tony. That said, many of my readers suggested Jon Hamm or David Gandy. I think it would be wonderful to interview each of these beautiful men to see who would be the best! I’d be willing to volunteer for that job!
What is your favorite Book that you have read ?
Favorite book of all time is Gone With the Wind. Yet, there are so many I’ve enjoyed. I was surprised with Harry Potter – I recently read them with my younger son. Surprisingly, I liked them a lot! I’ve also loved J.R. Ward’s The Black Dagger Brotherhood Series, her heroes rock my socks! I’ve recently started reading more spicy erotic books... C.J. Roberts, Sara Fawkes and Teresa Murmmet are a few of the authors I’ve enjoyed.
Have you written a book you love that you have not published yet?
No. I’ve written “parts” of books that could someday grow into something... but nothing complete that is just sitting on my laptop waiting to be discovered. Can you tell us about your challenges in getting your first book published?
I didn’t try to get Consequences published by a big publisher. I looked into it and learned I needed an agent. I queried some... many, and received rejections. I decided to try self-publishing. I went with what some consider a “vanity” publisher. You pay them -- they publish. It was a good way to start. Over time I learned more and more. Currently, Consequences and Truth are totally self-published. However, I’m proud to say I’m now represented by a wonderful established agent, Danielle Egan-Miller of Browne and Miller Literary Associates. Time will tell the results which will come from our mutual determination.
Do you ever experience writer’s block?
Yes... more accurately, writer’s loss of self. I write and write and then decide it wasn’t right. I’ve deleted more words than present in many novels. I have to write what I feel is right... I’m not afraid to delete chapters and chapters if I’m not happy.
Do you have any advice to give to aspiring writers ?
Be true to yourself. I was told Consequences was unacceptable by writers and agents. The material was too controversial. The manuscript was too long. There was too much “showing”. There wasn’t enough “showing” – too much “telling”. I can’t have multiple POV’s.... the issues were limitless. I decided I would write to please me. If the end result was that no one else would ever read my story – so be it. But, apparently my novels have found an audience. I believe it is because readers are smarter than some give them credit. Readers are smart enough to understand multiple POVs. Readers want “non-cookie cutter” stories. Readers rock!
Is there anything you would like to say to your readers and fans?
Thank you! Thank you for taking a chance on my novels. Thank you for reading. And thank you for spreading the word. Whether it is on Amazon, B&N, Goodreads or talking to your friends or family... “word of mouth” has propelled the Consequences Series on this wonderful journey.
Thank you so much for offering to do this giveaway and interview with me You are so welcome! Thank you for reading and “spreading the word”!!! Let’s give away some books! Aleatha

When I was reading Consequences I would go to bed mad at Claire. Trying to figure out how could she live with someone like that. Then in Truth I loved how she treated Tony. He deserved it. Once everything was unfolding it was brilliant what Claire did. Loved every turn of the page.
